We are seeking a Marine Hydraulic & Electrical Technician to perform system installations, troubleshooting, and repairs on tugboats. This role involves working on hydraulics, low-voltage marine electrical systems, steering systems, alarms, controls, radar lifts, and jack-up wheelhouse mechanisms. The ideal candidate is strong in hydraulics and comfortable working with basic electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Build, install, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, including steering gear, radar lift mechanisms, and jack-up wheelhouse systems on tugboats.
- Work with low-voltage marine electrical systems (120/208/220V) and occasionally 480V, primarily on components connected to hydraulic functions such as alarms, controls, communications, and steering.
- Diagnose issues effectively—determining whether problems are hydraulic, electrical, or combined—and perform safe, accurate repairs.
- Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documents.
- Use proper diagnostic and testing tools (meters, gauges, etc.) and adhere to shop and marine safety standards at all times.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in hydraulics, marine, mechanical, and/or industrial repair.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, accuracy, and quality workmanship.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel within a 3-hour radius.
