Overview:
We're hiring patient, skilled tutors to deliver one-on-one, in-person instruction to early elementary students (grades K–3) across Houston, TX. In this role, you'll tailor each session to the child's developmental stage, learning style, and attention span - building the foundational literacy and math skills (and the confidence) that shape how students see themselves as learners. Strong, consistent communication with families and internal staff is central to the role, as is reliable travel to student homes or designated tutoring sites.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized, one-on-one instruction in early literacy, phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and foundational math to students in grades K–3
- Break down concepts into clear, age-appropriate explanations and adapt teaching strategies in real time based on student progress, engagement, and attention span
- Support homework completion, reinforce classroom material, and introduce supplemental activities and games that strengthen understanding and keep learning fun
- Build foundational reading, writing, and math skills while fostering each student's confidence, curiosity, and independence
- Maintain detailed session notes and complete post-session reports accurately and on time
- Communicate regularly with families about progress, challenges, and next steps, and coordinate with internal staff on scheduling, student needs, and performance updates

Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience working with early elementary students (grades K–3) in a teaching or tutoring setting
- Strong working knowledge of foundational reading and math instruction, including phonics, decoding, early numeracy, and number sense
- Natural ability to connect with young learners — patient, warm, energetic, and able to hold attention through age-appropriate engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication with both families and colleagues, with a high standard of reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background check (fingerprinting may be required)
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to student locations or designated tutoring sites across the Houston, TX area
